License to Carry a Concealed Handgun Application  The process is easier than you think.

Learning the laws regulating the use of firearms is a must for responsible ownership. Local regulations differ and laws vary from state to state. Citizens must check with the jurisdiction where the firearm is to be used.

The Sheriff and his staff are required to follow strict state guidelines when performing the necessary background checks for a License to Carry a Concealed Handgun (CHL) application. Due to the nature of the detailed due diligence, appointment times and processing times can take multiple weeks. During the application process, you will be asked to schedule an appointment (for New and Renewal CHL). Please note that you will be asked to pay now to reserve your appointment.

The applicant must be a resident of Wayne County (or an adjoining county: Medina, Summit, Stark, Holmes, or Ashland).

• For a NEW CHL, you will be asked to schedule a fingerprint appointment.
• If your CHL is lost, stolen or destroyed, you must contact the agency where the license was issued within 3 business days.

Pricing:

• For credit card transactions a nominal credit card transaction fee will be charged for each transaction. Charges will be viewable prior to transaction completion.
• Fingerprinting is required for new and renewal Concealed Handgun License. Appointments for CHLs are available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, excluding legal holidays

• Fingerprinting costs is based on the level of Background Check Service:
• BCI - $35.00
• FBI - $44.00
• BCI & FBI - $59.00
• For Ink Fingerprint Cards, the cost is $35.00 for two (2) cards, each additional card is an extra $5.00.
• Appointments for fingerprinting will be processed between 8:00am-3:00pm on Wednesdays.
